SUB-SESSION 60min
13:45 – 14:45
Shared mobility is not a one-size-fits-all solution. What works in one city can fall flat in another. This session dives into the cultural puzzle of shared mobility: how do we figure out what works where, and why?
At the heart of the discussion we will have three speakers with rich knowledge. We will kick off with recent research by Rebel Group: the Transatlantic American Micromobility Trendsstudy. Commissioned by Bicycle Transit Systems, Rebel surveyed 24 micromobility managers across the US and EU to uncover what cities really want from the future of micromobility. The focus will be on the hardware requirements. They will move from fleet composition and equipment to funding models and regulatory frameworks, the findings reveal shared priorities as well as striking cultural differences. Lime, an international operator, will dive into differences in users and usage; gender, age and other remarkable differences. The presentations of insights will end with interesting philosophical ideas around the adoption of car sharing in Europe; the choice for station based and free floating models by To Zest.
We’ll use all of these insights as the starting point to puzzle out how shared mobility propositions can be better matched with the right target groups and the right infrastructure. By learning from both sides of the Atlantic, we can move from trial and error to smarter, context-driven strategies.
The real question….what is cultural? Join in figuring out what makes shared mobility into a success. How to turn cultural differences into an asset, so shared mobility fits local realities, resonates with people, and scales sustainably.
